1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how thephuzz.com ("Website") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use the Captain's Club services. These services are available through the Captain's Club Twitch Extension and the Website. Twitch is the primary identity platform — no Discord account is required to participate in Captain's Club. Discord is an optional integration that provides additional benefits.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Twitch Account Information (Primary)

When you log in on the Website with Twitch, we receive your Twitch user ID, login name, display name and profile image through Twitch's sign-in (OAuth). When you use the Captain's Club Twitch Extension, we receive your Twitch user ID via a cryptographically signed token issued by Twitch (a JWT). We never receive your password or payment information. Your Twitch user ID is used to:

  • Identify your Captain's Club membership and PhuzzyBucks balance.
  • Display your giveaway ticket count and participation history.
  • Track your Captain's Log watch time and collectible drops.
  • Record your shop and perk redemptions, bounty submissions, votes and Vault Keys.
  • Deliver notifications such as giveaway winner announcements, approvals and prize codes to your inbox.

Where a price or benefit depends on it, we check with Twitch whether you are currently subscribed to the channel and at which tier. We do not receive any payment details from that check.

2.2 Discord Account Information (Optional)

Discord integration is entirely optional. If you choose to link your Discord account through the Website, we collect your Discord username, user ID, avatar, and other information provided through the OAuth2 process. Linking Discord provides a PhuzzyBucks bonus but is not required to access Captain's Club features. Your Discord information is used solely to verify server membership and apply the applicable bonus.

2.3 Discord Bot & Game-Server Chat Bridge

Our community Discord server includes a bot operated by us. In addition to posting community notifications (giveaway results, redemption alerts, and similar announcements), the bot powers an optional chat bridge between one designated Discord channel and our community game server (Project Zomboid). Messages that members post in that designated channel are read by the bot and forwarded to the in-game chat, and in-game chat and events (player joins, deaths, server restarts) are posted back into the same channel.

The bot reads message content only in the designated bridge channel. Bridged messages are forwarded immediately and are not stored by us beyond short-lived operational logs; they are not analyzed, used for advertising or profiling, sold, or shared with any third party other than the game server they are relayed to. Participation is voluntary — simply not posting in the bridge channel means no message of yours is ever read or relayed.

2.4 Activity in the Twitch Channel

Our stream bot runs in the Twitch channel's chat. From your public activity there it records:

  • Watch time, used for the !watchtime command, Captain's Log and community leaderboards.
  • Commands you use and channel-point rewards you redeem (for example the Captain's Pass), so they can be answered and credited.
  • Word Plunder guesses and scores while a game is running.
  • Your vote when you take part in a live chat vote (your Twitch user ID and the entry you voted for). Individual votes are never published; only the outcome is.

Ordinary chat messages are shown on stream overlays and in our moderation view but are not kept as a record about you.

2.5 Bounty Submissions

When you submit to a Bounty we store the link you provide (a YouTube video or Twitch clip), any note you add, your Twitch name and ID, the time of submission, the review decision, and what was paid. Submissions stay private to you and our reviewers until a Bounty's results are revealed. After that, approved entries are listed on the Wanted Board with your Twitch name, and a winning video may be embedded on the page and shown on stream. A link to your channel is shown only if you ticked "show my channel" when submitting.

2.6 Channel Follower Records

Twitch makes the list of accounts that follow a channel available to the channel's owner. We keep a copy of our own channel's follower list — Twitch user ID, login, display name and the date of the follow — and update it several times a day. When a follow ends we record when we noticed, and we check with Twitch whether that account still exists. We also note whether the account was a Captain's Club member, its recorded watch time, and how long it had followed.

We do this for channel analytics and integrity: to understand how the channel grows, to recognise waves of automated "follow-bot" accounts, and to be able to show Twitch evidence if genuine followers are removed in error. These records are not used for advertising, are not sold or shared, and are visible only to the channel's administrators. If you would like your entry removed, contact us at the address below; note that a copy of your public follow is recorded again if you continue to follow the channel.

2.7 Game Server Access

If you redeem a Perk that grants access to one of our community game servers, we create the whitelist entry for you. This can involve a server username and an automatically generated password, which are stored with your redemption so they can be delivered to your inbox, and passed to the game server (hosted for us by a third-party game-server provider) so that you can log in.

2.8 Cookies and Automatically Collected Information

We use only the cookies needed to run the services:

  • A session cookie that keeps you logged in while you browse.
  • A "stay logged in" cookie (cc_auto) that is cryptographically signed, expires by itself, and lets you return without logging in again. Logging out removes it.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Embedded players from YouTube and Twitch (for example a winning bounty video or a clip) may set their own cookies under those companies' policies when you play them. Our server keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, pages requested and errors) to keep the services secure and working.

2.9 Reminders and Calendar Links

The Twitch Drops page offers a “Remind me” menu for upcoming streams. Choosing “Add to calendar” downloads a small calendar file to your device, and the Google Calendar and Twitch options open those services in a new tab. We do not ask you to sign in for any of these, we do not record who uses them, and nothing about your calendar is sent to us. Once you open Google Calendar or Twitch, their own privacy policies apply.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and maintain the Website and Twitch Extension.
  • Identify your Captain's Club membership status via your Twitch user ID.
  • Display your PhuzzyBucks balance, giveaway entries, and Captain's Log progress.
  • Review bounty submissions, run live votes, pay rewards, and deliver prizes and codes to your inbox.
  • Show community highlights on the Website, such as a giveaway win, a VIP badge claimed, or a Word Plunder top score, using your public Twitch name and profile image.
  • Keep a public record of giveaways on the Giveaways page: each giveaway that has been drawn is listed with the prize, the date, and the winner's public Twitch name and profile image.
  • Apply optional bonuses if you have linked a Discord account.
  • Communicate with you about giveaway results or changes to the services.
  • Understand channel growth and protect the programme against abuse, fraud and automated accounts.
  • Improve the functionality and user experience of the services.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing the service you asked for (your account, redemptions, submissions and prizes), on our legitimate interests in running and protecting the community (activity records, follower records, security logs), and on your consent where you give it (linking Discord, showing your channel on the Board).

3.1 API Calls to the Captain's Lookout Bot

The Website and Twitch Extension perform API calls to the Captain's Lookout bot to retrieve and display your Captain's Club information, such as your PhuzzyBucks balance, active giveaways, and related data. PhuzzyBucks are credited and deducted by sending that bot a command containing your Twitch user ID and the amount.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it with third parties, except:

  • What is shown publicly: your public Twitch name and profile image on community highlights, leaderboards, the giveaway winner history and revealed bounty results, and your channel link where you opted in. If you would like an entry removed, contact us at the address below.
  • Service providers that run the services for us: our server and backup hosting, and the provider that hosts our community game servers. They process data only on our behalf.
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties if you consent to such sharing.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to legal processes. We may also provide Twitch with account identifiers when reporting follow-bot activity or the erroneous removal of followers from our channel.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure, including encrypted connections, signed login cookies, restricted administrator access and regular backups. However, no security measures are perfect, and we cannot guarantee the security of your data.

6. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In practice:

  • Your Captain's Club account and what belongs to it are kept until you delete the account (see below).
  • Bounty submissions, results and the record of prizes awarded are kept as the record of each event.
  • Channel follower records are kept while the channel operates, so that changes over time can be compared.
  • Technical logs are short-lived and size-limited; backups are rotated on a fixed schedule.

7. Your Rights

  • Access the information we hold about you.
  • Request corrections to any inaccurate information.
  • Request the deletion of your data.
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, such as the channel follower records.
  • Withdraw your consent to our use of your data.

You can delete your account and associated data at any time, directly and without needing to contact us: log in, open your Dashboard, and choose “Delete my account” at the bottom of the page. To protect against mistakes, deletion is scheduled after a 14-day grace period, during which you can cancel it from your Dashboard. When the grace period ends, your Captain’s Club account and the data associated with it (such as your PhuzzyBucks balance, redemptions, giveaway entries, and progress) are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. You may also exercise any of the rights above by contacting us using the details in the “Contact Us” section below.

8. Third-Party Services

Our services integrate with Twitch (twitch.tv) and optionally with Discord (discord.com), embed videos from YouTube and clips from Twitch, and show game artwork retrieved from IGDB. No personal data is sent to IGDB. Like most websites, some parts of a page are loaded by your browser directly from another company, which means that company sees your IP address and browser details in the same way as if you had visited it: our text font comes from Google Fonts, and the Discord member count on the home page is requested from Discord. Your use of those platforms is governed by their respective privacy policies. We are not responsible for the data practices of those third parties.

9. Children

The services are not directed to children under 13, and Twitch does not permit accounts below that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on our website.
